Welcome to Carlingfesty.com!
CarlingFesty.com is a website dedicated to both the Carling Festivals, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival. Here all the latest
news and
updates will be posted about
Leeds Festival 2008 and
Reading Festival 2008. We first launched in 2005 where we kept everyone updated about Carling Festival 2006 and then 2007, this year we hope to improve the site a lot! We will be keeping you up to date with
news, rumours, tips, tricks and news about the Leeds and Reading festival
lineups as soon as we hear it!
Now, first off: This isn’t 100%, but it has come from a fairly reliable source (some guy on our MySpace account, thanks!).
Rumour has it that on 03/04/06 an Official Lineup Announcement will be made on Radio 1 between 6:30PM and 7:00PM. After the announcement tickets will go on sale immediately.
As you probably know, this isn’t going to be the full line up but you generally get the headliners (of course) and around twenty or so mainstage acts. The rest trickle through in the months afterwards (you can get an idea of when on our time-line for 2005).
So, that’s all the information we have at the moment! No need to mark that date in your diary, we’ll be listening then and be sure to update the site the second we hear any news!

Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals have won NME’s “Best Event” award for the festivals in 2005!
Beating Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival and even Live8!
This doesn’t really mean much, but it’s nice to know that this is the best U.K. Festival that there is. Especially considering it beat Live8.
You can read more about it here: http://www.nme.com/awards

According to RoadRunnerRecords.com Tool will be playing at Reading/Leeds this August.
Their official site does not mention this, but the tour dates seem pretty definite.

Mean Fiddler are holding a competition to allow thirty NME readers to discuss the Leeds festival with them, give them their opinions on the good and bad aspects of it and generally talk about how to improve it.
You need a “MyNME” username to participate in this competition, presumabely you can get this by buying an NME Magazine or just registering at the site.
To read more or enter yourself in the competition go here: http://www.nme.com/win/readingleeds-festival/100

According to LeedsToday.net Mean Fiddler are currently seeking permission for 70,000 peopl at Leeds this year. An unexpected move considering the riots of 2005, but this would certainly go a few steps towards compensating for the influx of people from Glastonbury!
This would increase the crowd capacity by around 10,000 people and the plan still appears to be to have it held at Branham Park.

Pearl Jam, Franz Ferdinand and Muse have been confirmed by NME as the headliners.
The Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys and Flaming Lips will be second on the bill.
Dirty Pretty Things and Racounters will be on an unkown stage.
This is from NME but they were spot on last year, so you can probably take it as fact.
Personally I’m not too sure about the large amount of indie up at the top, but am pleased to see Flaming Lips in the line up. Shame about the lack of Alice Cooper and still no sign of Tool!
Update: I am being told that the Pearl Jam rumour is false. I can’t confirm this, but just bear it in mind. Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up.

Looks like rumours about Alice Cooper headlining Leeds are growing, this means the likelyhood of Tool headlining Leeds are lowered but I guess it’s still good news for the majority of Leeds goers who seemed pretty upset by the all-indie rumours so far.
.. the outrageous School’s Out star is being tipped as one of the main acts at this summer’s Leeds Festival ..
You can read more about this here: http://www.leedstoday.net/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=39&ArticleID=1341883
The article also appears to confirm that Leeds will be held at last year’s location again.
