Welcome to Carlingfesty.com!
CarlingFesty.com is a website dedicated to both the Carling Festivals, Leeds Festival and Reading Festival. Here all the latest
news and
updates will be posted about
Leeds Festival 2008 and
Reading Festival 2008. We first launched in 2005 where we kept everyone updated about Carling Festival 2006 and then 2007, this year we hope to improve the site a lot! We will be keeping you up to date with
news, rumours, tips, tricks and news about the Leeds and Reading festival
lineups as soon as we hear it!
Virtual Festivals are claiming that they have strong rumours that Franz Ferdinand will be headlining the festival this year. And Kaiser Chiefs will be somewhere high up on the bill. There is also a traditional rock act that is yet to be announced. The Arctic Monkeys will also be playing, probably headlining on a smaller stage. Also, The Strokes will, apparently, not be playing this year.
So, to reiterate:
Headline Rumours: Franz Ferdinand, Muse
Main Stage Rumours: Kaiser Chiefs
Non-Main Stage Headline Rumours: Arctic Monkeys
And The Strokes will not be playing.
For now this is all speculation and rumour, especially considering that other sites have confirmed The Strokes who have now denied playing. You can read more on this here: http://virtualfestivals.co.uk/
So far I’m disapointed in what appears to be a rather pop/indie orientated line up that I would certainly expect of V, but not Leeds or Reading. I have my fingers crossed for one hell of a rock act.

Not suprisingly, considering as there were only a few major music events last year, Leeds has been nominated as this years best event by NME. Along with Glastonbury, Live8 and T in the Park.
You can read more about his here: http://www.inthenews.co.uk/music/kaisers-scoop-seven-nme-nominations-$15140052.htm

Well, we’re getting a lot of questions on the forums about “When the lineup will be announced” and “When tickets will go on sale”. So after a bit of research I have the following dates from last year! Presumabely the times and dates will be similar if not the same to last year for this year’s schedule.
- 2nd February - NME announce Lineup
- 7th March - Weekend tickets go on sale
- 21st March - Mean Fiddler Confirm NME’s rumours
- 22nd March - Day tickets go on sale
- 30th March - Reading Weekend Tickets sell out
- 7th April - More tickets for Leeds and Reading
- 18th April - More acts announced
- 11th May - More acts announced
- 18th May - Lock up stage line up announced
- 24th May - Cartling Stage line up announced
- 1st June - More tickets for Reading and Leeds go on sale
- 10th June - Reading increases capacity
- 14th June - Dance Stage lineup announced
- 9th August - Comedy Stage lineup announced
So there you go! Personally I remember everything happening a lot sooner, but I checked various websites and this list seems to be accurate! Oh well, 2 weeks until NME leak the line up? I’ve got my fingers crossed!
