So perhaps this is why we’ve been seeing Stuart Security at the festival since ‘03. Mean Fiddler have been forced to pay a whopping £300,000 to the West Yorkshire Police, it was said on October 24th.

The case, brought by the Office of the Force Solicitor, was heard in July and a High Court judge, this week granted an order which states that Mean Fiddler Group, the organisers of the Leeds Festival, must pay over £300,000 to West Yorkshire Police to cover the cost of extra policing around the event at Bramham.

It would appear that the police are a lot more expenisve than Stuary Security! Let’s hope that this doesn’t have any affect on the licensing for 2006!

After a week or so of nothing I return with some news. First, the forums are done! You can sign up and get posting now, if you like. You can find the forums here: forums.carlingfesty.com.

Second! I thought this was pretty good, if you search Reading Festival 2006 or Leeds Festival ber of the forums can2006 on MSN we’re number one! Google hasn’t got its act together yet, but I’m sure it will catch up.

Third! I’ve noticed a lot of demand for Carling Festival pictures. So here’s the plan, in the next few days I will be setting up a gallery here. Any forum members are welcome to upload any Carling Festival pictures they like, and will be encouraged to do so. But better than that! Come the August Bank Holiday I shall be opening up a Moblog here. A moblog is a special website were people can send in pictures from there phone (through MMS or E-mail) and the site will automatically receive them and put the on the Internet for all to see. The official sites ran moblogs but they weren’t too good, because they were censored and had to be checked so there was no live factor. This will be 100% live and automated, so while you’re having fun at Reading or Leeds the poor fools who waited too long to buy a ticket can watch the greatness as it happens.

If you have ANY ideas or requests at all please post them on the forum! Also, I should mention that we are looking for both news posters and moderators. If you’re interested get on those forums!

The forums will launch soon, after much deliberation I have decided to have a joint Leeds / Reading festival forum with seperate sub-forums for specific Leeds or Reading discussion. The forum will be located at: Forums.CarlingFesty.com.

Also, a few people have joined the Carling Festy team. I’ll set up their accounts soon and we can get some content here!

You may have noticed that another, suspiciously similar, festival related website exists.
This site is Reading Festival 2006, yes this site is run by the same people.
It’s just that, even though Leeds and Reading run at exactly the same time, with a very similar line up, they’re still two very different festivals.
You may have also noticed our mother site, Carling Festy. This is just a simple site that we have set up for people who prefer those shorter addresses.

So does this mean that the content is going to be the same?
Not at all! We will aim to make the Leeds and Reading sites just as different from each other as the festivals themselves are.
